Uttarayan and Dakshinayan According to the Hindu calendar, when the Sun travels from Capricorn to Gemini, this interval is called Uttarayan. This period of Uttarayan of the Sun is of 6 months. Uttarayan

According to astrology, when the Dakshinayana occurs, the Sun moves with tilt towards the south.


Special auspicious functions such as marriage, mundan, upanayana etc. are considered prohibited in Dakshinayan. - During the Dakshinayan, there are three seasons, Varsha, Sharad and Hemant. - Dakshinayan time is suitable for Tamasic experiments.
